I am the youngest of six children born to Shirley and the late Richard Andrews. My home parish was Mary Our Queen in Omaha. I graduated from Mt. Michael High School in Elkhorn and then Benedictine College in Kansas where I earned a B.A. in physics.
In the fall of 1995 I entered pre-theology at St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia. I completed major theology at Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary in Maryland and was ordained in 2001. I have served the following parishes: Christ the King, Omaha (2001-2004); St. Mary, Bellevue (2004-2005); St. Boniface, Elgin and St. Bonaventure, Raeville (2005-2010).
I love being a priest. The greatest joys of my life are preaching, teaching, and celebrating the Sacraments. It is so wonderful to share the communion of the Holy Trinity with other Christians.
For leisure I enjoy cooking, exercise, vacations at the ocean, and visiting with family and friends. My favorite pastime is following the ups and downs of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
It’s a joy to serve you as your pastor. My hope is that our parish would become a school of prayer after the model of the Holy Family in Nazareth. Everyone is welcome to receive the Lord’s life at Sacred Heart Parish!
(Fr. Dan Andrews was installed as Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish on Saturday, July 10, 2010 .)
Peace to you! My name is Fr. Matthew Niggemeyer and I am so happy to be with you here in Norfolk! I grew up in Omaha as the oldest of three children. After graduating from Burke High School in 2007, I entered Conception Seminary College and studied Philosophy for four years. After completing the program there, I accepted an appointment to study Theology in Rome, Italy, at the Pontifical Gregorian University. I was just recently ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop George J. Lucas on June 6, 2015, after which I traveled to Mexico to learn Spanish before arriving here on August 1st. Even with all of that, my heart has really never left Nebraska, so I can honestly say that it is a great joy for me to be here working with such a wonderful parish! I particularly enjoy teaching, as it gives me an opportunity to get to know the students and share the beautiful Faith that I have come to know and love.
In my leisure, I enjoy reading, studying, fishing, listening to music, cooking, and watching the occasional movie. I do love making Star Wars jokes and references, and according to our illustrious parish secretary, I am a Jedi Master.
Please continue to pray for me, that I may be the priest that God desires me to be, and that I might serve Sacred Heart with love and joy. To share the beauty of the Faith, Jesus Christ, with all of you is a great gift, and I am thankful for being able to receive such a wonderful assignment!
