Daily HS Announcements - Monday, September 23, 2019

Prayer:  Lord God, we thank you for the ministry of Saint Pio, and we pray that like him, we may hear the word of God and do it.  We ask this through our brother, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

1.  Congratulations to Kellen Carney & Anna Kassmeier on being crowned Homecoming King & Queen on Saturday night!

2.  Congratulations to the High School Band on taking 1st place at the parade competition on Saturday! - 2 YEARS IN A ROW FOR THEM!

3.  The football team was defeated by Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur on Friday night.

4.  The freshman volleyball team went 1-2 and finished in 4th place at the Norfolk Public tournament on Saturday. 

5.  Congratulations to the J.V. volleyball team on going 2-1 at the Scotus Central Catholic tournament on Saturday.

6.  Girls golf at Hartington C.C. today starting at 9:00 a.m.

7.  Jr. High volleyball at Guardian Angels C.C. today beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Players will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m. to leave by 2:30 p.m.

8.  A representative from the University of Nebraska at Kearney will be here on Wednesday, September 25th from 12:00 - 12:30 p.m. to visit with interested Juniors & Seniors.  Sign-up by Tuesday, September 24th.

9.  There will be a Senior and Senior Parent meeting tonight at 6:00 in the high school cafeteria.  Mrs. Wieser will be informing students and parents about how she will be helping seniors this year.  Please plan to attend the ½ hour meeting.

10. There will be a National Honor Society meeting this Friday, September 27th during 5th period study hall & lunch.  Mrs. Wieser will provide lunch.


11. 7th grade Band Members:  Mrs. Wieser will be starting the study skills/character building/career groups in her office today and tomorrow.

12. Parents - Looking for help in the technology battle?  Attend a parents only workshop on Wednesday, September 25th from 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Parish Center.  You will learn about currently trending applications among today’s youth under the lens of safety, privacy, and content, and will be provided with the tools and resources necessary to better manage your children’s digital usage at home.  The workshop is presented by Smart Gen Society.

13. Living Faith Opportunities:
-Saturday, October 5th - students needed to help with various jobs at the YMCA for the Buddy Walk.  Contact Mrs. Maas at 402-649-5677 for questions and to sign-up.

1.  Congratulations to the J.V. & varsity volleyball teams on their wins over Stanton & Boone Central last night!

2.  Congratulations to the girls golf team on defeating Battle Creek yesterday and to Hanna Neesen on finishing in 1st place.

3.  Results of the Columbus Scotus Cross-Country Invite yesterday:  Varsity girls team - 6th place; Varsity boys team - 6th place; Jr. High boys team - 1st place.  A list of individual finishes is posted on the bulletin board outside the office.

4.  Football at home tonight vs. Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur beginning at 7:00 p.m.

9.  Seniors are selling homecoming tickets for the homecoming dance this week during lunch.  Cost is $5.00 for individual tickets and $8.00 for a couple.

10. Outside dates for Homecoming should be signed-up on the counter in the office by the end of the day today!

11. 7th grade Band Members:  Mrs. Wieser will be starting the study skills/character building/career groups in her office next Monday, September 23rd and Tuesday, September 24th.

12. There will be a Student/Principal Advisory meeting today over study hall & lunch, both 4th & 5th periods.  Jr. High class officers should attend during 4th and high school class officers during 5th.  Meet in Room 218.

13. Band t-shirt money was due last Friday.  Please pay Mrs. Hahn immediately!

14. There will be a Norfolk Key Club meeting this Sunday, September 22nd at 8:00 p.m. at the Spirit Center, 2612 W. Norfolk Avenue.  Any students, grades 9-12, are welcome to attend and learn what this high school service club is all about.

15. There will be a homecoming pep rally today at 2:50 p.m. in the activities center.

16.  Mass will be at 5:00 p.m. this Saturday.  The homecoming coronation will take place at 8:30 p.m. in the activities center followed by the dance from 9:00 p.m. - 12:00 midnight in Burns Gym.

17. Seniors:  All seniors that sold garbage bags must pick them up this Saturday, September 21st from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Flooring Solutions.

18. All freshmen will meet in Burns Gym this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for Homecoming clean-up.  It should take less than an hour if everyone helps. If you have a conflict, you need a note from a parent or guardian, and you will owe an hour of service to the school.  Please contact Mrs. Headley with any questions.

19. The NSAA will be presenting the All-Sport Champion Boys Cup for the 2018-19 school year to Norfolk Catholic at halftime of the football game tonight.

20. Those sophomores that are going to Black Cow, Fat Pig for supper Saturday night are asked to pay the $20.00 per person when you arrive at the restaurant.

21. Jr. High volleyball will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m. next Monday to leave by 2:30 p.m. for GACC.

22. Living Faith Opportunities:
-Saturday, September 21st - students are needed to walk in the Lions Club Parade to hand out candy and fliers promoting the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome awareness.
-Saturday, October 5th - students needed to help with various jobs at the YMCA for the Buddy Walk.
