Baptism
"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission." [CCC 1213]
Baptism of Infants and Young Children
Baptisms are celebrated every Sunday at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Church. To prepare for their child's baptism, registered members of the parish (if you are not yet registered, you may do so at the same time that you register for Baptism) must stop in at the Parish Office to fill out a baptism registration form for each child’s baptism followed by one baptism class. Baptismal preparation consist of three components: our Baptismal call, family spirituality and the Baptismal Rite. Classes are held the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm in Norfolk Catholic Elementary School Library, Room 213, 2301 Madison Ave. Classes are to be repeated every three years (as necessary).
