Lampstand Inititative
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light in the house." - Matt 5:14-15
By their actions, the disciples of Jesus are to influence the world for the good. As we move towards embracing the pastoral vision (One Church: Encountering Jesus, Equipping Disciples, and Living Mercy), it is vital that we, who have been called by Christ and sent forth by Him, influence the culture of our parishes, their apostolates, our communities, and indeed, the world.

TIPE/Think Pair Share
There are many different ways to pray. The Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks of the following types of prayer: Thanksgiving, Intercession, Petition, and Invoking the Holy Spirit (Epicleses). Use these resources to help facilitate these forms of prayer in your personal lives, small groups, or ministry groups.
WRAP Lectio
Participant can utilize the WRAP format and worksheet guides to pray over the scriptures by focusing on the Sunday’s Gospel for the past or coming week.
Write, Reflect, Apply, and offer personal and communal prayer as part of a small group or on your own.
WRAP – Ignatian Meditation
Utilizing the WRAP method, participants seek a specific virtue or grace through this meditation and reflect on the interaction with the Lord or other saints in the Gospel passage.
ARRR
Share your thoughts, feelings and desires with the Lord in a conversational manner. The focus of this method is on the aspects of the individual’s life (i.e. the content of their heart) and bringing these aspects into dialogue with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Utilizing the worksheets below to help facilitate the steps to ARRR prayer as you begin and grow in this method.
Marian Devotion
Each Mystery of the Rosary is the focus of the prayer, followed by the virtue associated with the Mystery. The introductory prayers and other prayers (e., the Our Father, Hail Mary, Fatima Prayer) serve as a verbal background to foster a prayerful environment in which to meditate on the Mystery.
Adoration of our Lord
Spending time with Our Lord Jesus Christ, especially in front of the Blessed Sacrament, is valuable in the participant’s life of prayer. Utilizing different methods of prayer in conjunction with adoration should be seen as particularly meaningful as the participant is in the presence of Jesus Himself.
Discernment of Spirits
God is ALWAYS laboring to love us. We must develop a “listening heart” to hear His voice, paying attention to and naming the interior movements of the heart (such as thoughts, feelings, desires, etc.) The following guidelines help us discern these movements of the heart, and can be applied when a regular prayer life is present.
